FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Should I wear closed shoes or sandals?
That depends completely on what you're comfortable in and what
would look best with your dress. The only rule is that a really
wintery dress needs closed shoes. You can wear sandals with
sheer stockings as long as they don't have a re-inforced toe.
- I won't wear white shoes again - shouldn't I just buy cheap shoes for my wedding?
Cheap shoes are simply not worth it, because they usually mean
sacrificing comfort and style. Rather buy good quality wedding
shoes that fit well and are comfortable. Bridal Shoes have a
range of dyeable shoes, enabling you to wear your shoes again
after your wedding as evening shoes.
- When should I buy shoes?
You should buy your shoes early. At your first dress fitting,
you should be wearing the correct heel height in order for the
seamstress to do the hem. This is no time to guess or estimate
the heel height you will be wearing on the big day. Though a
dress that is too short is merely a fashion faux pas, a dress
that is too long could have disastrous results. You don't want
to be walking down the aisle holding up the front of your skirt
so as not to trip on it.
- My dress is long and full so no one will see my shoes …
A long dress doesn't hide shoes. Your shoes will show
when you lift your dress to walk, when you sit, dance and when
you take off your garter. Your bridal shoes stand alone as the
true finishing touch to your wedding day ensemble and can make
or break your outfit.
- Should I "wear my shoes in" before my wedding?
Yes, wearing your shoes around the house before the wedding
can help break them in. New shoes are at their most comfortable
when they have been "worn in" and have stretched to
accommodate your foot. If you are having dance lessons, use
this perfect opportunity to practise dancing in your shoes and
at the same time, you'll be breaking your shoes in a little
before the big day.
- My groom is very tall. Should I wear very high heels to reduce our height difference?
Not necessarily. Bridal shoes are rarely made with very high
heels because designers know that you'll be on your feet for
ten hours plus. Remember, if your feet hurt, it could spoil
your whole day, so don't put height before comfort. However,
if you are used to wearing very high heels and are comfortable
in them, go ahead.
